I've been working on my boring bed lately... there was never much too it.... So not to long ago we bought a new mattress, which I will just tell you is heaven to sleep on, especially since I have had all the aches of pregnant body. It is literally amazing how much better I sleep. Our last mattress was 8 years old and extra firm, which was fine when we were young but I feel like I'm slowly breaking down... The new mattress is like over 18 inches tall and my queen size blanket couldn't even cover the mattress, not to mention the sheets didn't fit right anymore either... So that sent me on a new search for new bedding... after much debate and surfing the web I found there wasn't a bed in a bag that I wanted and I started to search for the colors and blankets that I liked separately. I wanted to do yellow (a little girly) and a charcoal gray (a little manly) with white and black accents. I love the blankets that I have found so far but plan to add another blanket, hopefully a gray one and lots more pillows... that will be a new project because I really want to try making them, I've never been a sewer, we'll see, I'm sure I'll have my mom on the phone a lot.
Well after I got the new bedding I decided it was finally time to get a headboard/foot board. So I shopped around but finally decided that on my budget it would have to be a remake of a used bed... KSL is always my "go to" place for cheep finds. I did want to find one with wood rails but I couldn't pass this one up for $50. I'm trying to figure out if I could add them myself or if I should just get a bed skirt... It had some dings that I filled with wood putty and then spent last Saturday sanding and painting, with a little bit of help from Brady. I think he found me too controlling as I watched him paint and quietly slipped into the back ground as I forged on. So for $15 bucks in paint I transformed my bed into something I love. I also did a little work on the night stands I already had (which were also purchase off KSL both for $20 last year) sanding the edges to match the distressed look of my bed.
The awesome clock in the picture is what Brady got me for mother's day... picked it out himself... I was impressed and it looks so perfect in my room! The lamp was one that was in my living room that we never used and it was my mom that suggested that it would look nice as a bedside lamp, and I love the idea and the silver matches the nobs on the night stands.
Any way just happy about the way my room, after 8 years of marriage, is finally coming together... still have a lot more I'd like to do but I can do it slowly... I've started to dream of what I'd like to put above my bed... hummm....
