Summer Time!

The Pictures are in backwards order than what actually occurred but you'll get the point and I'm not good at rearranging them...
So we will start with Owen's Birthday... He turned one on June 15th! Can't hardly believe it...

This is the toy the boys picked out for him.... Carson and Wyatt rather enjoyed it... I think Owen did too once he got his turn to play with it.

On their first birthdays we usually just give them a piece of cake that they can do what they want with it.... He didn't want to touch the frosting so he just leaned over and bit into it!
Oma and Owen

I made the cake.... It was a lot harder than I thought it would be to make blocks and this is nothing close to how I had imagined that it would turn out... the blocks are lopsided and by the time it came to frost them I was shaky and tired.... so thus the squiblely lines....

We went to the zoo with two of my sisters and had a great time. Carson loved the bird show, expecially this parrot that could talk
Everyone at the bird show... Carson and I both got hit in the head with bird wings... They really loved it.
They loved this elephant that sprayed water...
The monkeys came right up to the glass and the kids thought it was great!

Summer in our back yard!Owen is such a rolly-polly! I love it!
Hard not to notice the little nose picker, sorry, I just liked the picture of Owen...

Happy Summer!

My 10k Race

So like every other female on this planet one of my goals this year was to lose the baby weight (yes my baby will be a year old this month and yes I still have baby weight). But I just didn't want to totally think about losing weight so I made 2 goals to help me... First, running a 10k (6.2miles) and then a half marathon (13.1miles)... these are things that I've always wanted to do but never got around to doing them...

I began to run, read about how I should train, and asking my dad (a full marathon runner himself) questions on dos and don'ts. I was doing great and feeling good... I actually thought I could run a half marathon because to be honest when I first decided to do it I had my doubts. Then one day on a 4 1/2 mile run I got a pain in my knee about mile 3 1/2... I finished my run... walking a little but wanted to make good time so I continued best I could... The rest of the day it hurt going up stairs and the next time I tried to run I could only go a mile before the pain set in. To make a long story short I went to a PT and got functioning again... but the pain is still there after mile 1 or 2 but it's not as sharp... I guess what I have is called ITband syndrome... it will haunt me the rest of my running career.
I ran my 10K any way last Saturday with a knee brace that helped a lot, but sad to say the pain was still there and although my time was better than I expected and I didn't have to walk my time wasn't that great... I was just glad I wasn't the last person!
I'm tempted to get a cortisone shot so that I can at least run my half marathon, other wise I don't think I can do it...

So now to run or not run my half marathon? That is the question!

Yes my face is bright red... (though it is redder in real life) that's how I look when ever I run, it's so embarrassing!

My cheering team... it was chilly that morning! (Carson didn't want to be in the picture)
